This lighthouse is famous for being the very first lighthouse to have a Fresnel lens installed during its construction in 1857. The lighthouse stands at 171 feet and has a staggering 228 steps, making it the tallest lighthouse in the Garden State and the third tallest in the United States. Inside you will find a museum that houses various exhibits of the lighthouse’s history, including its keepers, ship wrecks, and Atlantic City maritime history.
