Travel Tips: Labor Day Events in New Jersey 2017

Labor Day was established as a national tribute to the contributions that American workers have made to strengthen the well-being of the country. Over time, the holiday evolved from simply being a labor union celebration to being an unofficial celebration for the end of summer.

This is no different in New Jersey. Labor Day in New Jersey is marked with street fairs, festivals, road trips, family getaways, etc. Labor Day the last chance to do something exciting before the kids are back to school and everyone else is back to work.

In the spirit of making the most of the little that’s left of summer, consider hiring our New Jersey group transportation service for your friends and family. We will take you anywhere you want in a safe and timely manner as you get to enjoy each other’s company uninterrupted. This Labor Day weekend, just focus on having a good time with your people and let us worry about all the transportation and navigation.

Here are some of the Labor Day events taking place in New Jersey this weekend:

The Riverdale Labor Day Street Fair

Over the past few years, the Riverdale New Jersey Street Fair has proven to be the most popular Labor Day event in the Garden State. The NJ Street Fair boasts of numerous fun activities for people across all generations. The children can enjoy various fun rides and climb rock walls while the grownups get to explore art exhibitions, enjoy numerous musical acts, and sample specialty foods. The fair is a one-day event set for the 4th of September from 10 am to 5 pm. The NJ Street Fair is open to everyone and is completely free of charge.

Hay Rides at Pope’s Farm

This is one for the kids. The Hay Rides are scheduled for every weekend between September and October. The kids will get to take leisurely rides through open pastures alongside the animals at Pope’s Farm. Later on, they get to feed and pet the animals for an extra $4. Note, however, there is a limited space on the wagon each weekend, so it would be wise to reserve a spot as early as possible for only $6.

The Passaic River Labor Day Paddle

If you are looking for an adrenaline-filled weekend, head over to the Essex County Environmental Center in Roseland, New Jersey. Here you will get to enjoy a scenic view and a leisurely paddle down the Passaic River.

The Passaic River Labor Day Paddle is set for the 4th of September and you can choose between two-time slots: the 10 am to 12 pm or the 2 pm to 4 pm. However, only people over the age of 10 are allowed to take part in the actual canoeing. The admission fee for this event has been set at $30.

Annual Air Festival

Attend the 20th Annual AirFest at the NASW (Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum) for a 20-year celebration. The AirFest will feature tours of World War 2 aircrafts including the B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator, and the P-51 Mustang. The festival will also feature food trucks, beer stands, vendors, and live music acts to keep you refreshed and entertained throughout the duration of the event.  The Air Festival kicks off on 1st and ends on 4th September, opening every day from 10 am to late evening.
